Mindfulness, Yoga & Meditation Series

A Ten-week Series with Ellen Boyle

We will use the book: A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction by Bob Stahl, PhD, and Elisha Goldstein, PhD, as our text. I have taught this series for two years with my students at Cornish College of the Arts where they have experienced palpable reductions of stress, self-criticism and powerlessness.

Restorative Exercise Series: Movement Macronutrients

A Six-week Series with Special Guest Shannon Rude

Restorative Exercise approaches movement in much the same way as food. There are certain small movement “micronutrients” that can be compared to vitamins and minerals, and movement “macronutrients” that are more akin to fats, proteins, and other large nutrient groups. Just as we need to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, we also need a varied and healthy movement “diet” in order to thrive.

While there is a lot of evidence that meditation can help alleviate anxiety, meditation and anxiety can make for some rather distressing chemistry. With practice and patience, and a healthy dose of support, anxiety symptoms can indeed get better with meditation.
