A class for beginners or for those who want a skilled foundation in yoga through the Anusara Principles of Alignment. Emphasis is on developing strength, resiliency and stamina of the physical body through a respectful and intelligent flowing practice that slowly builds to a pinnacle pose.
This mixed level class will be tailored to meet the needs of the students who attend. All levels are welcome!
Stronger class that refines basic asanas, and introduces deeper poses, with special emphasis on gaining confidence in inversions, arm balances, and backbends. Deeper integration of the Principles of Alignment.
This practice explores more challenging backbends, balance poses, and arm balances. At least two years of asana experience requested.

Rediscover your potential for pain-free time in your daily activities. Using breath and movement, you will gain greater access to your range of spinal motion, create overall stability, and cultivate core strength.
with Healing Touch
This class is a deep, luxurious dive into stillness, allowing you to access your own inner healing potential. Focused on deep rest of both body and mind, Restorative yoga is a receptive practice in which your body is passive throughout the experience, completely supported by props, allowing you to release into subtle postures. Postures are held anywhere from 10-30 minutes to soothe your nervous system. You will explore the energetic union of breath and long-held passive asana. Gentle massage, Reiki, and guided meditation will facilitate a deeper experience of release and relaxation. No yoga experience is necessary; simply come with the willingness to be still and present with yourself. Please dress in layers, and bring an eye cover and socks. Pre-registration highly recommended; class normally fills in advance.
Seattle Yoga Arts is committed to making yoga accessible to everyone! In service of that goal, we offer an all-levels Saturday Community Yoga Class at a deeply discounted drop-in rate of only $8. This weekly class is for every body, regardless of shape, size, or level of experience, and will be led by a rotating pool of graduates of the esteemed Seattle Yoga Arts 200-hour Teacher Training program. The class will be tailored to meet the needs of the students who attend. Please note: Community Classes are not included in the Summer Special.
Friday Night Refresh
This all levels class is designed to help you transition from the “busy-ness” of the work week to the slower, more relaxed pace of the weekend. Each class will begin with a slow, yet strong asana practice that emphasizes the breath as a way to warm up, unwind and leave the efforts of a long week behind. The class will then move to Restorative poses and meditation to put the body and mind at ease, so that you can begin your weekend feeling refreshed and ready for whatever comes next.
For those with minor injuries, seniors, or anyone looking for serenity and rejuvenation of body and mind. Benefit from the healing aspects of yoga in this gently paced, integrated movement class.
Gentle Yoga with Reiki
This unique blend of gentle, yin-inspired yoga with the healing touch of Reiki calms the nervous system and nourishes both the physical and subtle body. As you tune into your inner awareness through your breath, you'll create a quiet space in which to cultivate compassion and tenderness. Reiki touch supports the body's natural healing processes and helps develop emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Reiki has been shown to have a positive effect on the autonomic nervous system, slowing heart rate and lowering blood pressure, and there is strong evidence to support that Reiki therapy may be effective in relieving pain and anxiety. This rejuvenating, prop-supported, long-hold sequenced class is gentle enough for students of all levels. Please dress in layers and bring socks for additional comfort. Pre-registration recommended; class size is limited.
An all levels class which warms quickly and then slows down to deeply stretch various muscle groups surrounding the hips, quads, hamstrings, neck and shoulders. Slow down (10-15 deep breaths in each pose supported by props), prevent injury, increase joint mobility, receive supportive and feel good hands on adjustments as you improve your flexibility to complement running, hiking, biking, swimming, and any and all movement activities. No yoga experience necessary.
Morning Qi Gong
The gentle flowing practice of Qi Gong is a kind of moving meditation that enhances our awareness of the energy in our body and in the world around us. Each class will start with stretches and movements that are similar to yoga postures. The aim of this warm up is to clear tension from the body and release stagnant energy while freeing the joints and increasing overall strength and flexibility. This will prepare us for the flowing movements that support the circulation of fresh energy in the body and soothe the nervous system. Class may include work with healing sounds and acupressure points. Every class will end with flowing sequences and guided meditation. Practice Qi Gong to enhance vitality, relieve stress, increase flexibility and power, cultivate mental clarity and calm.
Cultivate a sense of ease, strength and grace with which to meet the challenges of pregnancy, labor, and new motherhood. Appropriate for all stages of pregnancy; postpartum mothers and pre-crawling babies also welcome.

Strong Resilient Aging
No matter our current age, we are all growing older. And as we age, maintaining and building muscle strength becomes as important, if not more important, than flexibility. This class is for anyone, at any age, who wants to improve strength using body weight conditioning that is incorporated into a yoga framework. Maintaining and building muscle strength and mass improves your ability to do every day activities, decreases your risk of bone loss and osteoporosis, and creates more lean muscle mass. Increased lean muscle mass leads to a higher metabolism, which translates into increased energy and more calories burned every day! Being stronger physically can be quite grounding and helps to build confidence. Expect an well-balanced practice that balances strength, resilience and stability with flexibility, ease and connection to soul.
Trauma Sensitive Yoga
The potent mind-body connection that yoga promotes provides a gateway to deep healing beneficial to recovery from trauma. Trauma Sensitive Yoga creates an environment where students have a chance to safely experiment with movement, breath work, and meditation as a vehicle for healing. The class is set up to honor your personal safety, growth, and empowerment regardless of whether you consider yourself a trauma survivor. You will not be expected to interact with other participants and you will be in control over what you are doing at all times. You will be encouraged to become aware of, honor, and maintain boundaries that help you feel safer in your class experience, and to move into potentially challenging experiences at your own pace to foster healing and growth. At its core this class is structured to guide you in practices that will assist you in developing a nurturing relationship with your body and mind while supported by safe and professional instruction. There will be no hands-on adjustments in this class.
This playful all levels class offers a triple focus on core strength, back care and heart opening. First, we’ll flow through a short sequence of postures three times, adding on each time to build strength and stability throughout the core and back body. We'll finish with a gentle heart opening posture and supportive hands-on adjustments to unwind, balance and replenish your energy.
Yoga & Deep Tissue Hybrid
This hybrid class incorporates yoga for both strength and relaxation, basic breath work, and Yoga Tune Up® practices and tools, targeted for deep tissue and fascial release and relief. Appropriate for newer students, those who need options to modify their practice, as well as longtime students who enjoy a methodical, balanced practice designed to offer access to deeper fascial planes that regular asana does not address. Pre-registration recommended; class size is limited.
Yoga Lunch Hour
This one hour all-levels class is designed to help you reset your body and mind in the middle of your busy day. Appropriate for all levels of experience, this well-balanced class will challenge, inspire and recharge you. Bring your co-workers and throw down a yoga mat for Yoga Lunch Hour and return to work feeling centered and ready to take on the rest of the day!
